At Surrey Model United Nations 2019, we are proud to offer our most substantive committees program to date, with six unique committees covering a wide variety of prevalent global issues. Through an extensive commitment in time and effort from both our Staff and Secretariat teams, we are confident that delegates of all skillsets will be able to find a committee suitable towards their interests. Each committee will offer unique backgrounders for the respective topics at hand. Although these background information guides are helpful research resources for delegates, further extensive research is heavily recommended. Throughout the duration of the conference, delegates will be tasked with extensive debate and diplomacy to reach a consensual draft resolution paper for the respective topics of their committees. If time permits, the committee director may also chose to present an urgent sub-topic, also known as a crisis, for delegates to immediately address.
Delegates of SurreyMUN 2019 will be presented with opportunities to win delegating awards of 4 seperate calibres: best position paper, honourable mention, outstanding delegate, and best delegate. Awards quantity will vary based on committee size; however, there can only be one “best delegate” award per committee. Delegates are highly encouraged to submit their position papers and must do so in order to be considered for awards. Position papers are due January 31st, 2019 at 11:59 PM. If you require an extension, please email your director with the email provided on your committee webpage, which can be found below.
If you have any further inquiries regarding the SurreyMUN 2019 Committees Programme, please do not hesitate to contact our Under-Secretary-General of Committees, Eli Lee, at email@example.com.
